Hanging Rock 2007 'The Jim Jim' Pinot Gris -Chris Hayes- Eat & Drink
After a weekend devoted to drinking pinot gris, most of which were heavy in alcohol and clumsy on the palate, this was a fragrant delight.
At only 12% alcohol it is testament that the variety performs better in cooler climes (the upper King Valley and cooler parts of the Adelaide Hills also produce good examples).
The perfume of crisp pears and pink lady apples, some soft crushed herbs and gentle spices give way to a fleshy but crisp palate with lingering fruit sweetness.
Great with prawns, fish and delicate white meats.
