Macedon Cuvée XII stands out at Sparkling tasting - Chris Hayes Eat & Drink Oct 2008
OK, so it's been out since May and we do try to be as up-to-date as possible, but somehow slipped through the cracks until a recent tasting of a few sparklings. And it wiped the floor with them. This may have something to do with the base wine being 2001 with dollops of 2003 and 2000, with other smaller parcels going back two decades. The blend spent four years in bottle before release giving it the palate richness and fine mousse that typifies Macedon year in, year out. This is richly textured and shows creamy, nutty, toasted brioche complexities on the palate. Great natural acid holds everything in fine balance.
