Light-bodied red

2008 Odd One Out Petit Noir $20

A lovely light red (it's only 11 per cent alcohol) made from Pinot Noir, designed to be drunk chilled on a hot day. Sappy, strawberry-fruity perfume leads on to a juicy, fresh and lively mouthfeel of cranberry and cherry. A bit retro, but in a good way.

Zesty White

2008 Jim Jim RS Fifty Riesling $27

The RS refers to residual sweetness: there's a lovely core of ripe grapey fruit sitting at the heart of this riesling, balanced by a super-tangy zestiness ans a light (9 per cent alcohol), clean finish. Both these wines are from www.hangingrock.com.au.
