Halliday gives 5 Stars to the Hanging Rock Winery
James Halliday James Hallidays Wine Companion 2012
‘The Macedon area has proven very marginal in spots, and the Hanging Rock vineyards, with their lovely vista toward the Rock, are no exception. John Ellis has thus elected to source additional grapes from various parts of Victoria to produce an interesting and diverse range of varietals at different price points. In January 2011 John and Ann’s children Ruth and Robert returned to the fold: Robert obtaining his oenology degree at Adelaide University in 2006, since working as a Flying Winemaker in Champagne, Burgundy, Oregon and Stellenbosch, Most recently he worked as winemaker at Hewitson. Ruth has a degree in Wine Marketing from Adelaide University, and begun work at the winery, before leaving to work with Hanging Rock’s Victorian distributors for 18 months. Exports to the Uk, Us and other major markets.’
