2018 was a traditionally warm and dry year in Heathcote. This is one of Heathcote’s major draw cards as there is little chance of disease which means that the vineyards can be run close to, if not organically. The resulting wine is what we come to expect from Heathcote, it’s rich and powerful with great tannin structure and a natural acid balance.
Cambrian Rise will always include components from a number of Heathcote Shiraz vineyards and its composition will vary from vintage to vintage. Being a slightly warmer year the majority of the fruit for this vintage came from the middle and more southerly part of the region.
Colour: Deep red with a cherry red and slightly purple hue.
Nose: Intense all spice and cedar aromas with notes of chocolate and cherries.
Palate: Plum, spice and white pepper are the dominate flavours of the wine, however the most exciting thing is the texture and structure. The velvet tannin blend so well with the round lush mouth feel of the wine. To us, this feeling of power with elegance is a quintessential tell-tale of a well made Heathcote wine.
