Heathcote's Bow (Gourmet Traveller WINE) Feb 2011
Ken Gargett Gourmet Traveller WINE
Hanging Rock, based in Macedon and especially renowned for its complex sparkling wines from that region, has long made one of Heathcote's leading shiraz, with John Ellis sourcing from former Seeker, Athol Guy's vineyard, Athol's Paddock.
2006 Hanging Rock Heathcote Shiraz ($70) is saturated in flavours with bright aromatics. There is a hint of vanilla, with black fruits, choc cherry and even a touch of a sandalwood-like note. It should have an impressive future. The wine is supplemented by small parcels from across the region.
