Meet Rob Ellis (Get Fed- Fed Square Newsletter) July 2012
Rob Ellis, the young wine maker of Hanging Rock Winery in the Macedon Ranges is in the spotlight this month with his stellar performance at the June Fed Square Wine Showcase. He took away 10 awards for his wines, including the 2009 Heathcote Shiraz, NV Macedon XII and more.
But his real passion is for Pinot Noir, especially after spending an extensive amount of time abroad and working in Champagne, Burgundy, Oregon and Stelenbosh. This passion is what led him to join his father at Hanging Rock and become the renowned wine maker that he is today.
Hanging Rock's latest release is the 2010 Jim Jim Pinot Noir. Hanging Rock's Pinot vines have been traditionally reserved for sparkling wine, but in recent years the warmer weather and increased vine age has meant Rob can produce a great table Pinot Noir.
Hanging Rock Winery is located in the Macedon Ranges, an hour North West of Melbourne, and is one of Australia’s coldest grape growing region.
