Art in the Vines – Sculpture in Motion
26 October 2019 – 23 February 2020
Following on from the hugely successful Art in the Vines – Sculpture Exhibition & Trail in 2018/19, October marks the launch of our new exhibition for the 2019/20 season.
Presenting Art in the Vines – Sculpture in Motion.
Art in the Vines – Sculpture in Motion is an exhibition of kinetic sculpture. We’re talking art that is made of various mediums but that depends on motion for its effect, making it one of the most challenging forms of artistic expression that an artist can undertake.
But this is far from your ordinary display of sculptures that simply move in the wind, because here’s the clincher………to set this exhibition apart, artists have addressed the possibilities and limitations posed by having to mount their work on three-metre high poles installed throughout the winery.
In a real boon for the event, renowned Exhibition Curator, Malcolm Thomson has again been engaged to deliver Art in the Vines. He has worked with 15 world-class artists to develop and create sculptures that will thrill, mesmerise, excite and intrigue.
Start your experience by tasting some of our award-winning wine, before choosing a bottle or two, picking up a trail map and heading off glass in hand to explore the exhibition! Then to complete your experience, pair your wine with one of our gourmet picnic boxes or cheeseboards, find a spot on our deck or lawns and wile away the afternoon.
And with the iconic backdrop of our vineyard, Hanging Rock and Mount Macedon providing an unparalleled setting for some incredible kinetic sculptures, Art in the Vines – Sculpture in Motion is both the perfect destination to fill a weekend, and the perfect drawcard to build a weekend around.
Art in the Vines – Sculpture in Motion commences on Saturday, 26 October 2019 and concludes on Sunday, 23 February 2020. Entry to the exhibition is free.
On 9 and 10 November 2019, over 30 of our region’s wineries open their doors for the Macedon Ranges Wine and Food Budburst Festival. It’s the perfect weekend to explore and experience the diversity of wine styles grown and vinified across this outstanding winemaking region.
As the biggest winery in the region, we know how to put on a show!
Held on our front lawn against the sprawling backdrop of our vineyard, Hanging Rock and Mount Macedon, Budburst at Hanging Rock Winery gives you:
The largest range of wines on tasting in the region
Pop-up Cheese Bar by Cornelius Cheesemongers
Pop-up Pie Bar by Hanging Rock Beef
Gourmet BBQ also featuring our own Hanging Rock Beef (dietaries catered for too)
Live music from the deck on Saturday by Dave Melling and on Sunday by Hayden Evans
Special Budburst wine deals
Our annual warehouse sale
And a fantastic buzzing atmosphere…….right across the weekend
If the weather’s not quite right, we’ve got that covered too, so still make sure you head on out.
To participate in Budburst, you’ll need a Festival Passport ticket which gets you access across the weekend to all venues for wine tastings. You’ll receive your own commemorative Budburst glass too. Shuttle buses between the wineries also operate on both days. For more information visit the Budburst website.
