Forged from roofing iron and rusty metal scraps, 'Embrace Circle' embodies the raw beauty of the Australian countryside. Bent, burnt, and twisted into unique forms, its sculpted shapes and colours evoke the rugged landscape of the outback, reborn in steel.

Darren's artistic journey spans decades and is shaped by diverse experiences. Born in England in 1966, he migrated to Australia with his parents as a “Ten Pound Tourist” at just two years old. His love of art was nurtured during his Diploma of Fine Arts studies at Queensland University in the early 1980s, but economic realities led him to take a job in a pie factory in Victoria, where he went on to work as a pastry cook for many years. As time passed, Darren’s passion for art resurfaced, leading him to train as a graphic designer in the early 1990s—a turning point that ultimately inspired him to establish his own arts business, Monkey Tail Design. Combining graphic design with a growing fine art practice, his work features intricate sculptures and drawings marked by meticulous planning and engineering. Darren often employs mathematical precision, using the Fibonacci Sequence to map out his sculptures—a sequence closely tied to the rule of thirds and the natural beauty of spiral forms. This seamless blend of art and mathematics defines his distinct and compelling style.
