Maestro - Jenny Reddin

Maestro celebrates the creative, capable, and extraordinary achievers among us — those who master their craft and then push it beyond the bounds of the ordinary. The work embodies power, focus, and the quiet pride that comes from dedication and discipline. Standing tall and attentive, the figure conveys a sense of purpose and the forward gaze of mastery earned through persistence.

Constructed from welded steel bar, Maestro is a study in geometry, structure, and the human form. The figure’s framework is defined by intersecting lines and shifting angles — no two bars are placed the same — reflecting both the randomness and precision inherent in creative endeavour. The inner surfaces are painted black, while the outer structure is rendered in vivid red, symbolising the relationship between the physical and emotional self: the energy that drives achievement and the discipline that contains it.

My practice is grounded in an ongoing fascination with the structure and biomechanics of living things. Each work begins as an exploration of balance and form, and becomes a meditation on what holds us together — physically, emotionally, and creatively.
