Power to the Peopleis a large figurative sculpture comprised of three individual pieces. The inspiration for this series was that of the power of community to make positive change when people come together with a common goal. Whether large, such as the overthrow of brutal corrupt dictators or more local, to create a community garden, renewable energy project or care for those in need…When people, in all their wonderful diversity come together with a common goal great things can happen Â
This is the 3rditeration of the Power to the People series – each one unique but similarly comprised of three figures looking in the same direction. Designed and created by Issa from mild steel.  Â

About Issa
Issa Ouattara is a local Central Highlands artist based in Franklinford near Daylesford with his church-residence, studio and sculpture garden. He grew up in Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) in West Africa and moved to Australia in 2009 with his Australian wife and family. Issa had a difficult childhood with no formal education and was a child labourer when serendipity intervened and he (aged 13) crossed paths with the French artist/sculptor Michelle Tadjo. He quickly progressed from being an assistant to a dedicated apprentice as he demonstrated his talents and dedication. Sadly, Michelle passed away too early when Issa was just 21. Michelle’s family encouraged him to continue to use her studio and Issa began to exhibit in his own right. He has never looked back and is inspired by Michelle everyday.Â
