Miriam Porter

Miriam has been living and working creating sculpture and furniture in Central Highlands for 35 years.

Using mostly wood, Miriam's work is always informed by the joyous wonder of nature. Her last public pieces were for Gumnut Park in in Donnybrook with fourteen birds and animals scattered among the red gums.

Miriam started by witling birds which led to the study of Wood Craft of RMIT. It was always her endeavor to make both functional and nonfunctional pieces that speak to the interaction, the wonder and beauty that bound between humans and wildlife.
