Ripple - Aimie Whiting

InRipple, I explore the fleeting moment of surrender—when a body breaks from gravity and arcs toward water. Formed from 10mm round bar, the figure is both strong and ethereal. Her curves and musculature are only suggested, traced in space rather than filled in, allowing air and light to pass through. This transparency invites viewers to see both the figure and beyond her, as though watching a memory in motion.

Aimie Whiting

I’mAimie Whiting– a metal sculptor, ceramicist, and tapestry artist from New Zealand, now creating in the land of Oz. My practice spans across mediums, but the thread that ties it all together is a love of makingone-off functional art piecesthat bring beauty into everyday life.

I often imagine the picture-perfect website: sleek, modern, filled with images of high-end handmade objects against flawless backdrops. I imagine myself in that world too – effortlessly styled, hair behaving, wardrobe on point. But the truth is, most days I look more like a creature that’s crawled out of a studio than a fashion shoot.

And that’s okay. Because while I might not be able to do both, I can focus on what matters most:making timeless, beautiful homewares and unique sculptures for others to enjoy. My work is about creating pieces that feel both grounded and extraordinary – objects that elevate the spaces they live in, without losing their sense of rawness and honesty.
